Salomey Osaah Amofah

Salomey earned her Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). She obtained a Qualifying Certificate in Law (BL) from the Ghana School of Law and was called to the Ghana Bar in 2015. She also holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from Lancaster University, UK, graduating with Distinction.

 

She has extensive experience in business and corporate legal practice, providing guidance on general investment matters. Her expertise includes advising on business start-ups, such as company incorporation and sector-specific registrations with institutions like the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and the Free Zones Board. She also assists in obtaining immigration permits for foreign national employees.

 

Salomey is highly regarded for her exceptional legal research skills and meticulous attention to detail. She regularly advises on corporate and commercial matters impacting projects and companies. Renowned for her strong negotiation and drafting abilities, she has developed expertise in drafting and reviewing commercial documents as well as preparing pre-transaction due diligence reports.

 

Salomey also has extensive experience in providing company secretarial and compliance services. She has served as part of a team of company secretaries, attended numerous board and committee meetings, and prepared detailed minutes for these meetings. Her expertise in this regard includes maintaining corporate registers, drafting compliance codes and policies, and offering compliance advisory support to boards of directors and management teams. She ensures alignment with local laws and international best practices.

 

Salomey was trained at Ashong Benjamin and Associates, a leading law firm in Ghana, where she gained extensive experience in legal research tailored to meet the unique needs of clients. During her time there, she participated in advising a multinational corporation on a cross-border transaction involving a loan of over USD 16 million through the purchase of equipment for a Ghanaian company. She later worked at Prime Attorneys from 2016 to 2019, where she was actively involved in corporate litigation, corporate law, and company secretarial and compliance services.

 

From 2020 to 2024, Salomey served as the Legal Manager at the ECOWAS & Regional Integration Office, at the Office of the President of Ghana. In this role, she additionally gained significant experience in diplomatic protocol and provided legal advisory services, drafting, and negotiation of international and regional legal agreements and governance protocols. Salomey held several key roles, including serving as Legal Advisor to the Secretariat of the 2023 Accra Reparations Conference. She coordinated, documented, and drafted the minutes of the conference committee meetings while acting as Secretary to the Planning Committee. Additionally, she was a member of the team that negotiated the Host Nation Agreement between the Republic of Ghana and the African Union Commission for the 45th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 6th Mid-Year Coordination Meetings, held in Accra, Ghana, in July 2024.

 

Salomey exhibits strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, coupled with a steadfast commitment to achieving her clients’ objectives and targets. She has a proven ability to navigate complex legal landscapes and contribute effectively to high-level decision-making processes. Hardworking and team-oriented, she possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Salomey currently is the Lead Counsel at Unicorn Legal and is a member of the Ghana Bar Association.
